ndzhaka, ntomeni & buffleshoek camps

Ndzhaka Camp

Ndzhaka Camp is located in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. With no fences between these reserves this is a prime Big Five destination.

The camp is located in a thickly wooded area within walking distance of the reserve's largest dam. Its proximity to the dam results in plenty of animal activity around the camp as they move to and from the water to drink. Big game is often sighted in the thick bush surrounding camp.

Typical activities whilst staying at Ndzhaka Camp:

  • Game drives in the open vehicles around the reserve ensure excellent game viewing. Night drives expose the nocturnal activities of the bush as interpreted and explained by the qualified guides.
  • For the more adventurous, the guided game walks are not to be missed. It is out on foot under the watchful eyes of trained guides that the adrenaline really starts to rush.
  • You can relax in camp and soak up the sounds and smells of the bush over a cup of coffee or a good book. Whether you're at the main lapa or on the deck of your tent, you will often be able to watch game moving around in the nearby bush.
Ntomeni Camp
Ntomeni Camp is situated just north of Phalaborwa in the Letaba Ranch Game Reserve, which shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park . Located on the banks of the Great Letaba River , Ntomeni is an idyllic bush retreat where hippos and crocodiles keep a watchful eye on the activities in camp! The 42 000 hectares of Letaba Ranch offers the visitor a true African experience including the Big Five, notably large herds of Elephant and Buffalo.

Typical activities whilst staying at Ntomeni Camp:

  • For the adventurous, guided game walks on the banks of the Great Letaba in the early morning hours provide plenty of exciting moments tracing the spoor of the dangerous Big Five.
  • Game drives in the open vehicles around the reserve ensure excellent game viewing. Night drives expose the nocturnal activities of the bush as interpreted and explained by the qualified guides.
  • A favourite pastime at Ntomeni involves sitting at the main lapa or on your private deck, watching the elephant come down to drink at the river.
  • A guided visit to the dam in the South of the reserve, in search of the ever-present herds of elephant and buffalo, is highly recommended.
Buffelshoek Camp

The tented encampment of Buffelshoek gives you an even closer experience with the African bush. This incredible camp is also located within Manyeleti, about 16 kms from Ndzhaka, and close to the unfenced border with Sabi Sands. Your experience of the African bush will not get more up close and personal than this! Big game often walks right past the camp, so keep an eye out so that you don't miss anything! At night, settle into your dome tent and fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush.

Typical activities whilst staying at Buffelshoek Camp:

  • The guided game drives in open vehicles are also offered at Buffelshoek, departing just after sunrise and again in the late afternoon. Spotlights are used after dark to locate the predators as they begin their nocturnal wanderings
  • Guided game walks give you an up-close encounter with the fauna and flora of this beautiful part of Greater Kruger, enhanced by the incredible stories and explanations of your African Ivory Route guide
  • But, sitting around the campfire by night or at the lapa during the day is when you will truly appreciate Buffelshoek. The big game sightings are often better close to camp than they are on the game drives!
