April - June Special - 4-day Guided Big 5 Safari

  • 3 nights at unfenced Big 5 safari camp(s) in the Greater Kruger Park
  • 5 guided game drives in open game-viewing vehicles, led by qualified rangers & trackers

  Departs: 10 April, 15 May and 21 June at 6am
  Returns: 13 April, 18 May and 24 June at 6pm

WHAT IS INCLUDED/EXCLUDED?

The safari price includes:

  • Accommodation at unfenced Big 5 safari camp(s) in Greater Kruger. Each tent offers 2 comfortable beds, bedding & towels, WC and shower.(For more detailed information please visit the Ivory Route accommodation page.
  • All food & soft drinks, beer and wine as specified in the meal plan at the end of each day in the itinerary below.
  • All transport in air-conditioned vehicles (a/c does not apply to the open game viewing vehicles), starting and ending in Johannesburg.
  • Fuel, toll road and entrance fees.
  • A day of game viewing in Kruger National Park including conservation fees.
  • 5 guided game drives in open game-viewing vehicles with qualified rangers.
  •  The services of a qualified and registered tour guide / driver plus support staff.

The safari price excludes:

  • Meals not included in the meal plan at the end of each day in the itinerary below
  • Alcoholic beverages other than beer and wine
  • Gratuities, and any other items of a personal nature
  • International and domestic flights
  • Transfers before/after the safari to/from ‘OR Tambo Airport' in Johannesburg
YOUR SAFARI DAY-BY-DAY

Day 1: Johannesburg to the Greater Kruger National Park

Depart Johannesburg early and travel to the Manyeleti Game Reserve in Greater Kruger - a prime Big 5 area. Accommodation at Buffleshoek Camp is in comfortable safari tents on wooden decks and under thatched roofs. After lunch there will be time to relax and unwind and absorb your magnificent surroundings. Afternoon/evening guided game drive (3-4 hours) in the capable hands of a qualified ranger and tracker. Dinner at the main lapa followed by coffee/drinks around the campfire. No other people, vehicles or noises - just nature!

Day 2: Manyeleti Game Reserve & Kruger

Depart before sunrise for the neighbouring Kruger National Park and a fantastic day of game viewing in the Ashtons vehicle(s). Around midday we stop at a Main Rest camp where there is a chance to shop for curios. After more game viewing we leave Kruger and return to the tranquility of Manyeleti where there will be time to freshen up before the next game drive. Afternoon/evening guided game drive (3-4 hours), stopping for sundowners at one of the reserves waterholes before searching for the predators by spotlight. Dinner at the main lapa followed by coffee/drinks around the campfire. Meal plan:  Brunch, Dinner (extra meals for your own account)

Day 3: Manyeleti Game Reserve

Sunrise guided game drive (3-4 hours) in the capable hands of a qualified ranger and tracker. Breakfast at the central lapa followed by time to freshen up and relax. Rest of the day at leisure relaxing at the camp, enjoying the sounds of the bush and maybe even having some animals walking through camp. Optional guided drive during the day in the Ashtons vehicle, searching for the herds of elephant and buffalo. Afternoon/evening guided game drive (3-4 hours), searching for the predators by spotlight after dark. Dinner at the main lapa followed by coffee/drinks around the campfire. Meal plan:  Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Johannesburg via the Panorama Route

Early morning guided game drive (3-4 hours) in Manyeleti, searching for the animals we may not yet have seen under the expert guidance of our qualified ranger and tracker. Breakfast at the central lapa before packing up and preparing for departure. On our journey back to Johannesburg we stop at some of the scenic highlights of Mpumalanga such as Blyde River Canyon and God's Window. Meal plan: Breakfast (Lunch & Dinner for your own account)
