Private Lodges - 'A typical day'

All the private game lodges advertised lie in prime BIG FIVE wildlife reserves and are recognised for offering quality accommodation, service of the highest standard and an overall safari experience that will be remembered and reflected on for years to come.

A typical day at any one of the private game lodges would consist of:-

MORNING

•  Just before the sun rises you are woken and invited to enjoy coffee and biscuits before setting out on an early morning guided game drive.

•  Your qualified ranger and tracker will do their best to locate the Big 5 and other animals for you, explaining in detail all you need to know about the fauna and flora that you encounter

•  On return to camp a delicious and lavish South African breakfast awaits you, served in the main dining area.

•  Breakfast will be followed by the opportunity to join an optional game walk with a qualified ranger - you will gain a detailed insight into the flora and fauna not always noticed on game drives.

•  Back at the lodge you can relax by the pool, in your room or on your private deck, making use of the variety of facilities that the lodge has to offer.

MIDDAY/AFTERNOON

•  Lunch is served in the early afternoon and is usually buffet style with a great array of food to suit every taste.

•  In the afternoon perhaps a siesta to rejuvenate yourself or more time spent soaking up your beautiful surroundings.

•  After enjoying some tea, the afternoon/evening game drive departs in the late afternoon. Mid way through the drive you will stop at a suitable spot in the reserve to watch the sunset as you enjoy some refreshments. The drive then continues after dark using spotlights to search for the nocturnal predators, particularly the big cats as they commence their activities under the cover of darkness.

EVENING

•  On return to the lodge there is time to freshen up and enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the bar before the sound of the drums invites you the boma for dinner (if the weather is bad you will enjoy dinner in the dining area)

•  In the boma a circle of lantern-lit tables are set around the campfire where the lodge staff eagerly await to serve you with the chefs gastronomic delights for the evening accompanied by your choice of wine from the fully stocked cellar.

•  After a long day enjoy a decadent bubble bath back at your room or maybe a nightcap on your private deck under the stars, before climbing into bed and listening to the sounds of Africa around you.

At the private game lodges there will be a full complement of highly trained staff ensuring you have a special and memorable experience, including intimate knowledge on the big game, fauna and flora of the region. All meals are prepared by qualified chefs.

On all tours the tracking skills of qualified rangers will allow for up-close-and-personal encounters with the Big Five and the African bush during the guided drives and walks

At each camp a full briefing is given to guests on camp living and procedures in order to maximize the enjoyment of your stay and the appreciation of the animals.
