private lodge transfer options

Charter Flights

You can fly directly to the private game lodge with one of the charter companies that fly regularly between Johannesburg and several of the private/provincial reserve airstrips. Depending on the size of the group these flights are in one of the following aircraft:

•  Senneca non pressurized twin engine (1 – 3 people)

•  Cessna 401 non pressurized twin engine (4 – 5 people)

•  Chieftan non pressurized twin engine (6 people)

•  King Air pressurized twin turbine engine (10 people)

This option is obviously slightly more expensive, but limits your travel time and allows you to arrive at your destination quickly and comfortably.

Self-Drive

You can hire a car and drive directly to the private game lodge. All lodges have safe, shaded parking for your car. Excellent car hire rates and online quotations are available at www.southafricar.com , with pick-up locations countrywide.

This perhaps the most economical option, but it is not the quickest - it takes approximately 6 hours to get from Johannesburg to a game lodge located in the Sabi Sands or Manyeleti reserves, and a little longer to reach lodges in the Timbavati and Madikwe reserves.

Road Transfer

Ashtons can offer you road transfers from either Johannesburg or Nelspruit to the private game lodge. You will be transferred in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and can choose to include the Panorama Route as part of the transfer, which includes travelling through some scenic highlights of the Mpumalanga region with stops at God's Window and Blyde River Canyon .

This option gives you a fantastic opportunity to see some of South Africa 's beautiful scenery, safe in the competent hands of a qualified tour guide . As with the self-drive option, it takes significantly more time than flying.

Ask our consultants for prices for the transfer of your choice
